There comes a time in the build-up to an effects-heavy movie’s release that the CG boffins have been beavering away enough to allow the filmmakers to insert some new eye-candy into the latest trailer to tempt the masses. Such is the case with this new promo for M Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.
It’s also apparent that someone has decided it’s also time to give a clearer idea of the plot for those unfamiliar with the cartoons on which this is based.
So we get a throaty voice-over guy telling us of the elemental powers bestowed upon a chosen few and how the fire nation has declared war and only one who has the power to control all elements can stop them. Luckily for the other empires, there appears to be one such lad frozen in a block of ice.
Quicker than you can say “Mum’s gone to Iceland”, he’s ready and ladling out some whup-ass with his abilities. Oh, and there’s a big dragon and a giant wall of water that would make Roland Emmerich smile, even if it does seem more fantastical than real-world (not a bad thing given the movie’s setting).
Check out the trailer for yourself over below. The film arrives on our shores on 13 August.
