When the first, teasing trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrived online last week (see below), the web lit up with speculation as to who was intoning about an awakening and the sides of the force. Many thought it might be Benedict Cumberbatch, but more recent chatter has pointed to Andy Serkis, who has the advantage of actually being listed among the movie’s official cast. Now Serkis has gone on the record with our colleagues over at Absolute Radio to confirm that it is indeed his voice.
“I’m sure Benedict doesn’t need any more attention at the moment,” he laughs when told of the rampant Cumberchat. Oh, and he can’t say who (or what) he’s playing in the film because that would obviously not end well for him.

Abrams and his team shouldering the mantle of bringing the big screen adventures in that galaxy far, far away back to life featuring a cast that includes Serkis, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow plus original trilogy veterans Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, Warwick Davis, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker.
