Since the first **Anchorman **premiered in 2004 in a small hut somewhere in a whale's vagina off the coast of San Diego, this film, well, franchise, has grown in reputation and adoration. Like Ron Burgundy's salon-quality hair, it's now an institution. Not just any institution, either. An institution that, as bystanders at last night's Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues premiere can attest, could pack London's Leicester Square with the whiff of its musky power.

Wannabe Rons and Ronettes, each eager to touch the cloth of the Channel 9 Evening News Team, joined stars Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, James Marsden, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, director Adam McKay, producer Judd Apatow and a cadre of salon-quality press handlers (Baxter was in quarantine). In the new **Anchorman **outing, Ron and his loyal news team confront the Earth-shattering changes underway in their industry, and head to New York for the potential opportunity of a lifetime. Assuming they don’t screw it all up, that is...

As well as Ferrell here, Carell, Rudd, Applegate and David Koechner are also back, with the newcomers including Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, Meagan Good and Marsden.

Anchorman 2 is in our cinemas on December 18. For more pre-briefing head over to this Adam McKay-orchestrated trailer breakdown.
