So after last week's costume pics arrived online, we've been spoilt by another dose of The Amazing Spider-man goodness – namely this trailer we have for you here below.
brightcove.createExperiences();In it, you'll notice a distinct change of tone compared to Sam Raimi's previous adaptation of the Marvel fan favourite, feeling almost like an '80s horror film rather than a cuddly, creepy-crawly-based superhero adventure.
There's the now almost obligatory Inception-like "BRAAAHM" noises here and there, rapid fades to black, and a good couple of shots of the lovely Emma Stone and the slightly-less-lovely Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors (but not, alas, as The Lizard).
It all seems pretty encouraging stuff until the ending – a first person sequence where we see the world from Garfield's Spidey's perspective, leaping from building to building before jumping onto a big shiny skyscraper.
It's a nice idea, and maybe it'll work better on the big screen, but by us it feels a touch too much like a Mirror's Edge-style game cutscene than Raimi's take-your-breath-away Tarzan swoops through the big city.
But hey, it's just a trailer, and a pretty impressive one at that, so give it a click and let us know what you guys think... terribly exciting or another reboot best left alone? Whatever the weather, comment away. Seriously, that's an order.
UPDATE: There's an HD version of the trailer available on the movie's Facebook page, which you can check out here.
