Ready for news of another Adam Sandler comedy? Tough, because he's signed up for a Chris Columbus directed remake of Korean supernatural comedy Hello Ghost. Sandler, who'll also produce with Happy Madison partner Jack Giarraputo, will play a man whose attempt at suicide results in him being haunted by four ghosts.
They won't leave him in peace until he helps them amend for past sins, a Christmas Carol-in-reverse scenario that might just see him learning a life lesson or two along the way, too.
It's officially Columbus day in movieland, with Deadline reporting that the one-time Harry Potter director will also be bringing his attention to bear on the Yuletide-set 12/24. His 142 Pictures and Ocean Blue Entertainment marque has bought the spec script written by Matt Lieberman. Inspired by another Christmas-y idea, this time by David Guggenheim (writer of Denzel Washington thriller** Safe House)**, it sees two brothers employing their home video to try to capture Santa on camera.
They get more than they bargained for though when they end up joining Mr Claus on his sleigh ride, cause a big ol' crash and have to save Christmas for everyone everywhere. Will there be waterboarding and guns,* a la* Safe House? Probably not. With Columbus overseeing as producer, this sounds like solidly family-friendly Christmas fare. More on director and casting picks as they come.
