Never let anyone say that Uma Thurman doesn’t know how to make an entrance. Flanked by an entourage of six firemen, she worked the red carpet on Wednesday night for the world premiere of her upcoming rom-com The Accidental Husband.
Clearly an actress who knows how to accessorize, the burly flame putter-outers left her alone for a few moments to let her talk about her role as a radio advice show host who finds herself unexpectedly betrothed to Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s laddish firefighter, a turn of events which buggers up her nuptial plans with prim fiancé Colin Firth.
“I seem to be having a bit of a Bride thing going on,” said the lovely Uma. “I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’m growing up.”
A star who has a cinematic history of ballsed-up weddings and unlikely couplings doesn’t reckon she’ll be walking down the aisle on screen anytime again soon.
“A conventional wedding in my next movies? I don’t know, it’s unscheduled.”
But if she were to, would her co-star Firth make for good husband material?
“He’s completely smooth,” she said, referring to his suavity (obviously). “He’s completely charming and wonderful. He’s a divine actor. I had the best time with him and I’d love to work with him again.”
We wouldn’t get too excited about another team-up between the two anytime soon, however. Uma’s slate is pretty full for the foreseeable (“I’m making a movie called Motherhood which I’m excited about and I’m making a movie called Eloise In Paris, it’s a children’s movie and I’m playing the Nanny”), but if this flick is successful, The Accidental Husband could be the start of a beautiful friendship.
The Accidental Husband is released on February 29.
