Here's a turn-up for the books. It seems like only minutes since we were telling you about Keanu Reeves' plans to star in a new take on the Jekyll and Hyde story in **Jekyll, and here's Abel Ferrara planning another look at the same story, starring Forest Whitaker and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.

The pair are attached to play the lead roles in this contemporary version of the tale, wherein a doctor tries to eliminate evil from his personality but instead succeeds in creating an alter-ego who is composed of all his worst instincts. It's not clear whether one will play Jekyll and one Hyde, or if one of them will play an updated version of Jekyll's friend Dr Lanyon (sometimes rolled into the character of narrator Mr Utterson).

The film's due to begin shooting this summer, so it'll be racing to beat the Reeves film, still in talks with director Nicolas Winding Refn, to the screen.
