12 Years A Slave Among Golden Globes Nominees 2014

American Hustle also scores several nods

12 Years A Slave Among Golden Globes Nominees

We’ve had a bevvy of critics’ circle choices and awards such as the Screen Actors Guild, but here comes one of the gong shows considered (by some) to be a heavy hitter. The Golden Globe nominees have been revealed and it’s good news for some, with others weirdly overlooked.

American Hustle, 12 Years A Slave, Gravity and Her all did well, and there were a few surprises including nods for Kate Winslet for Labor Day and The Book Thief’s score.

On the TV front, poor old Mad Men is a loser once more, but Netflix’s House Of Cards scored some love and, pleasingly, the excellent Masters Of Sex was recognised. We must admit to some confusion as to why Nashville's Hayden Panettiere deserved a nom and, say, Masters’ Lizzy Caplan did not. Still: Brooklyn Nine-Nine scored two nominations, so hurrah! The awards ceremony is set for January 12, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler back on hosting duty.
