It's been a while since we've heard much about Robin Hood: Origins, which has had to wait for star Taron Egerton to finish his duties on Kingsman sequel The Golden Circle. But casting on the apparently gritty version of the Hood origin story is picking up again with news that Jamie Dornan is in talks to play Will Scarlet.
Peaky Blinders regular director Otto Bathurst is in the director's chair for this one, which boasts a script from Joby Harold. Origins will, as the title suggests, be just the latest film to follows the titular hero as he returns from the Crusades to discover massive corruption in feudal England and forms a band of outlaws to fight back.
Eve Hewson is aboard to play Maid Marian, while Jamie Foxx is set as Little John. If he signs, Dornan's Scarlet will be one of the key Merry Men who help our hero in his clash with the likes of the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Dornan, who is in cinemas now in Anthropoid and The 9th Life Of Louis Drax, will also appear in Netflix's The Siege Of Jadotville and returns as Christian Grey for Fifty Shades sequel Fifty Shades Darker, out on February 10 next year.
