Tom Six Talks The Human Centipede 3

With the banning of The Human Centipede 2, Dutchman Tom Six has carved a gory niche for himself as cinema’s provocateur of the moment. In person, though, he’s a disarmingly gentle soul and a far cry from the extreme horrorhead of repute, the man on whom the BBFC recently brought its censorship powers to bear. Speaking at Empire Presents… Big Screen, Six had some more bad news for the British Board of Film Classification: Human Centipede 3 is going to “make the last one look like a Disney film”.

Before you scour the Disney back catalogue for the one where Goofy and Pluto form a lovable doggie-pede, there really isn’t one. Basically, expect a lot more shocks and more boundary-pushing from an unchastened Six. “We’re going to shoot the third film entirely in America and it’s going to be my favourite,” he enthused to a Big Screen crowd. “It’s going to upset a lot of people.”

The director also confirmed that part three would be the last of his Centi-series, in a stitch guaranteeing cinema its most extreme trilogy (sorry Blade). No word on whether it would finish with one end of the centipede discovering that the other end is his father, but we can only hope not.

Despite his protestations, Six was asked if he might feel a temptation to dust off the sandpaper for a fourth instalment. “No. Never, ever.”

Six criticised the BBFC’s decision to ban The Human Centipede 2 (“the wrong decision”) and suggested that his use of British actors may have been a factor in the decision. But he's staunchly refusing to take the snippers to controversial scenes. “I hate cutting but I’m jealous that you can buy A Serbian Film here, but you can’t see mine. If it’s made here you need to be able to see it.”

One audience member asked Six if he expected Hollywood to add Human Centipede to its roster of horror remakes. “With Tom Cruise on his hands and knees?” joked the Dutchman. “No, I’m not sure but I’d love to direct it.”

**The Human Centipede 2 **is out now. The Human Centipede 2 is also not out now. It's a little confusing.
