Too many cult kids series wither under the harsh glare of nostalgia-free viewing, but The Trap Door stands firm. This claymation treat gleefully presents the travails of blue servant-blob Berk, forever trapped between the twin horrors of his boss, The Thing Upstairs, and a hellish yet often likeable menagerie lurking beneath the titular portal. Humourist Willie Rushton voiced it all, adding his own wry material, while Thing-doer Steve Box (now at Aardman) shaped the shows almost Lovecraftian oddities with a sharp eye for character.
