A six-hour, two-disc mini-series distillation of Stephen King’s thickest novel. Superflu wipes out most of humanity, forcing survivors (Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald, Miguel Ferrer, Rob

Lowe etc.) to choose between a demon cowboy (Jamey Sheridan) running an infernal kingdom in Las Vegas and a saintly old black lady (Ruby Dee) representing the Good Lord.

The apocalypse soap beginning plays better than the Christian horror finish, and it’s hampered by network TV squeamishness and early 1990s dodgy CGI, but there are plenty of good moments.
