Pretty much the only UK comedy series to be successfully remade in the US, The Office continues to benefit from fantastic casting and a clear understanding of the originals concept. But this second, 22-episode season wisely spreads out familiar subplots with well-written new ones, encompassing its broader array of supporting characters.
It also dextrously folds in issues unique to the American work environment: watch Michaels (Steve Carell in Gervais role) face when the word union is spoken.
The only thing this really lacks is the darker heart of its progenitor, offering its characters a few too many redeeming moments.
