With a 24-ish lust for bleepy noises, The Grid tramples across continents, treading the well-worn, yet still entertaining, path of terrorist threat. Episode 1 shoots along with dizzying amounts of information; 15 characters are rapidly introduced, causing confusion later on, but cumbersome dialogue and rapid editing fail to maintain the initial exhilarating thrust, while performances range from the intense breathiness of ER’s Julianna Margulies (kooky curls straightened to maximum seriousness) to the empty frowning of Dylan McDermott.
