Echo Beach/Moving Wallpaper Review

ITV’s newest soap arrived in a blaze of publicity, but despite the interest generated by Jason Donovan and Martine McCutcheon, this Cornwall-set tale is standard stuff. However, it does offer one inspired idea in the shape of sister show Moving Wallpaper, a fictional look at the ‘making of’ Echo Beach. Ironically, it’s far better, with Ben Miller in top form as the megalomaniac producer drafted in to turn a serious drama into glossy soap fluff. Peppered with satire, it’s far-fetched but enormous fun - and unlike its companion, has already lined up a second series.
