IT Crowd 2.0, The Review

Series creator Graham Linehan promised us a fine-tuned ‘2.0’ of his show about PC-tinkering geeks, and he’s delivered.

Beyond a greater degree of comfort in the characters, the reason here for the rise in quality (and proper laughs) is better focus in the writing, and the swap of Chris Morris’ distracting CEO for the welcome addition of Garth Marenghi’s Matt Berry. But it’s when Linehan touches on fresh observations - likening new smoking areas to the Soviet era; DVD piracy warnings - that the show truly soars. There are a few dead patches (such as a clichéd dinner party episode), but this is still a big step up.
