With Flight Of The Conchords disbanded and Curb Your Enthusiasm winding down, HBO is struggling to find a new breakout comedy. Bored To Death is unlikely to be that breakout, since it’s overly mannered, exhaustingly zany and, crucially, not very funny. Jason Schwartzman is a writer who decides to become a PI, Ted Danson a pot-smoking editor, Zach Galifianakis an emotionally stunted comic-book artist. It’s an appealing trio, let down by the material.
