Afro Samurai

This barmy, bloody Anime stars Samuel L. Jackson in two roles, as a silent-but-deadly samurai on a mission to avenge his murdered father (“It’s nothing personal; it’s just revenge”) and his chattering sidekick, amusingly - if inaccurately - called Ninja Ninja.

Set in a futuristic but feudal world where samurai do indeed boast ’fros, most of the elements are nevertheless firmly Japanese, from the manga style of the animation to the gossiping men hanging out in tea houses

to the fact that the plot revolves around two immensely significant headbands (really) with the numbers One and Two on them.

Kelly Hu and Ron Perlman provide the other star voices, with RZA bringing the choons.
