Though Star Wars Celebration is naturally heavy on all things to do with George Lucas' most famous creation (and those carrying its legacy), there was also room to talk about another project he helped shepherd to screens: Willow. Specifically, the Disney+ sequel series that follows Ron Howard's 1988 fantasy film. Check out the first teaser...
Warwick Davis is back as the title character. The story began with his aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness.
Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world...
Perhaps the biggest reveal of the trailer (and the Celebration panel) was that Joanne Whalleyis back as Sorsha from the original film.
"It's incredible to be here," she told the Celebration crowd. "And I still can't quite — I'm back with the sword. I've got Sorsha's sword in my hand."
The cast for this one also features Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha Patel and Dempsey Bryk. Oh, and keeping things in the family, Davis' son was his stunt double and his daughter plays Willow's daughter on screen.
Willow arrives on Disney+ on 30 November.
