Those this news is likely to frustrate anyone (including a certain Empire Podcast) still waiting for dream Marvel/Disney+ series The Adventures Of Sonny Birch, word arrives that Walton Goggins has been cast as one of the main characters in the Prime Video adaptation of popular video game series Fallout.

Westworld duo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have been developing the show via their Kilter Films company for a couple of years now.

The best-selling game franchise Fallout is one where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. There, the harshness of the wasteland is set against the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy. It is serious in tone, yet sprinkled with moments of ironic humor and B-movie-nuclear-fantasies.

Though Nolan and Joy are executive producers (and Nolan will direct the first episode), Captain Marvel's Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Silicon Valley's Graham Wagner will serve as showrunners.

Goggins' character has yet to be revealed, but Deadline has heard he'll be playing a Ghoul, a mutated human who experienced prolonged radiation exposure amid the Great War.

The cameras should be rolling - and the radiation swirling – this year.
