Apple's TV+ streaming service has done very well out of Ted Lasso, with the comedy winning a big audience and scoring plenty of awards and nominations. You can understand the company looking to stay in business with the show's executive producer Bill Lawrence. He's now producing a new drama called Bad Monkey, which will star Vince Vaughn.
Lawrence, along with fellow executive producer Liza Katzer, is adapting Carl Hiaasen's 2013 novel. The story follows Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a one-time detective demoted to restaurant inspector in Southern Florida. A severed arm found by a tourist out fishing pulls Yancy into the world of greed and corruption that decimates the land and environment in both Florida and the Bahamas. And yes, there’s a monkey.
The show has nabbed a 10-episode straight-to-series order, so expect that to start shooting this year.
