The White Lotus Season 3 Will Be Set In Thailand

The White Lotus – Season 2

Pack your suitcases, everyone – it’s time for another relaxing, luxurious, nope-absolutely-nobody-getting-killed-here-no-siree trip to The White Lotus! Mike White’s brilliantly excruciating satirical drama – about super-rich reprehensibles facing down their first-world problems in fabulous holiday locations – has been a major hit for HBO with its Hawaiian-set first series, and last year’s Sicilian follow-up. It didn’t take long for Season 3 to get the greenlight, and as ever the show will be upping sticks and heading to another branch of the ill-fated hotel chain for the next set of episodes – and now we know which destination to put into the GPS.

According to Variety, our next getaway will be in Thailand – which chimes with White’s comments on a featurette at the end of Season 2, that the third run might deal with “death, and Eastern religion, and spirituality”. And if it’s set to once again shoot at a Four Seasons hotel (despite all the social commentary, the series really is a stellar form of TripAdvisor in its own right), there are several Thai beach resorts that could play host to the fictional holiday spot.

It’s currently unknown who’ll be checking in to Season 3 – while Jennifer Coolidge was the main connective thread between the first two runs, her beloved Tanya McQuoid (SPOILER ALERT!) got a gloriously inglorious demise in the Season 2 finale. There are other faces who might pop up again, though equally White may choose a clean slate for the next set of episodes. In the meantime, we’ll be warming up our vocals to sing along with that maddeningly catchy theme tune once more.
