Ever since Netflix began telling the story of the current generation of the Royal Family in period drama The Crown, it sparked the question: what are they going to do about Princess Diana? Well, it seems that time is nearly upon us. Fresh from the announcement that the role will be played by Tenet star Elizabeth Debicki in the upcoming Season 5 and 6, the first teaser for the series’ fourth season has just arrived – offering obscured glimpses not only of Diana (due to be portrayed in this run by Emma Corrin), but also of Gillian Anderson’s Margaret Thatcher. It’s like The Avengers of Royal Family stories. Watch the teaser below.

As the clip confirms, the fourth season will hit the streaming services on 15 November – sure to bring some excitement in the winter months when the Coronavirus production delays could potentially spell a slower patch for new releases. Elsewhere, Olivia Colman returns as Queen Elizabeth, with Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, and Emerald Fennell as Camilla Shand. It’s also expected that Claire Foy will return in a flashback as Queen Elizabeth during the series.

While The Crown was initially announced as a six-season show, at the beginning of 2020 it was revealed that the drama would actually conclude with a fifth and final season which will see Imelda Staunton play Her Maj – until another announcement six months later that it will get a sixth season after all. Stay tuned for a full trailer for Season 4 as the release date approaches, and expect the arrival of Diana and Thatcher to really shake things up this time around.
