There’s only about a month to go until The Boys is – finally, at long last – back in town. Two years after the all-out carnage of Season 3 (that Termite moment still haunts us all), Season 4 is finally due to arrive on Prime Video this June. And beyond that, we now know there’ll be even more comic book-inspired chaos to come – prior to any of the new episodes rolling out, it’s already been confirmed that Season 5 is officially a go.
As confirmed on the show’s social media channels, The Boys Season 5 is in the pipeline, with head honcho Eric Kripke confirming that the “writers are already hard at work in the writer's room”, adding: “Love these sickos.” Aww. Since its inception, Prime Video has gone all-in on The Boys as one of its flagship shows – so far, we’ve had three seasons of the main show (with two more at least on the way), animated spin-off Diabolical, and last year’s YA (though decidedly still more ‘adult’ than ‘young’) spin-off Gen V. While more Gen V is on the way too, that show is currently recalibrating following the tragic death of star Chance Perdomo, who passed away in March.
Of course, since we haven’t even seen Season 4 of The Boys yet (the first three episodes drop on 13 June), it’s too early to predict what might be coming our way in Season 5 – let alone when you factor in that this is one of the most unpredictable shows on the box. Considering the arrival of V’ed-up chickens in the Season 4 trailer, we’re going to say bring on the ultimate Billy Butcher vs. farmyard animals showdown you’ve all been waiting for.
