The final episode of The Boys' explosive fourth series may have been and gone, and the battle between Billy Butcher and Homelander may be nearing its end with the upcoming fifth and final season of Prime Video's superviolent superhero show, but fear not friends — The Boys universe is about to get a whole lot bigger! During the show's big panel at San Diego Comic Con today, Deadline revealed that Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash are set to reprise their main series roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront in a major new prequel series, Vought Rising.

The Boys executive producer Paul Grellong will serve as EP and showrunner on Vought Rising, with the franchise's screen mastermind Eric Kripke overseeing its production and development. As for what we can expect from the show, which will bring together both Frederick Vought's first non-aging American superhero (Soldier Boy) and his first successful Compound V test subject (Stormfront), Grellong and Kripke teased what's in store in a statement accompanying Vought Rising's announcement.

"We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys," said the duo. "It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

Salacious? Grisly? Drenched in blood and Compound V? Sounds like we've got another glorious (gore-ious?) r-rated supe series on our hands, folks. And whilst we don't know when we can expect the show to hit our screens, Ackles and Cash's returns to the franchise is a huge statement of intent from Kripke and co to let fans know The Boys universe ain't going anywhere. In fact, with carnage-filled college spin-off Gen V's second season (just confirmed at Comic Con to be coming in 2025) well on its way and a long-mooted Mexico-set take on the franchise still in the works too, The Boys' future has never looked brighter.
