Good news, do-gooders – the patron saint of doing the right thing and spreading positivity is nearly back on our screens. In football terms, the fixtures are out for the next season of Ted Lasso, Apple TV+’s beloved comedy(-drama) in which Jason Sudeikis stars as the titular Ted – an American football coach who moves to the UK to coach socce- sorry, football team AFC Richmond. The first season earned major word-of-mouth buzz for its warm tone and loveable characters, before shifting into something a little darker (to a more mixed reception) in 2021’s Season 2. Now, we’ll find out where the upcoming Season 3 will land on the tonal scale – and there isn’t much longer to wait.

As confirmed by a new teaser, Ted Lasso Season 3 will kick off on 15 March – bringing back everyone’s favourite characters, and possibly blowing the final whistle on the entire show. Check out the sunny teaser video here:

And here’s the official season synopsis: “In this third season of Ted Lasso, the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League and Nate, now hailed as the “wonder kid,” has gone to work for Rupert at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard. Meanwhile, while Ted deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home, Rebecca is focused on defeating Rupert and Keeley navigates being the boss of her own PR agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway.”

Will this season hit the back of the net and have the audience cheering again? Or will it be squeaky-bum time over the 12-episode season? And is this really the end, or will there be extra time on the way? OK, that’s all our football phrases done. Hey, we’re a movie magazine, leave us alone.
