Apple TV+ is continuing to expand its show portfolio, and has scored a big project from Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine company. Psychological thriller series Surface stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw and has a trailer online.

Set in high-end San Francisco, the story finds Mbatha-Raw as Sophie, a woman who has suffered a traumatic head injury that has left her with extreme memory loss, believed to be a result of a suicide attempt. As Sophie embarks on a quest to put the pieces of her life back together with the help of her husband and friends, she begins to question whether or not the truth she is told is in fact the truth she has lived...

Through twists and turns and an unexpected love triangle, the thriller asks: What if you woke up one day and didn’t know your own secrets?

Created by Victoria West, who previously worked on shows including High Fidelity and Dexter: New Blood, the series has I May Destroy You's Sam Miller directing. The cast also includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Stephan James, Ari Graynor, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, François Arnaud and Millie Brady.

It'll kick off in true Apple fashion with the first three episodes on 29 July, followed by one episode of week every Friday for a first-season total of eight episodes.
