There has been an awakening... have you felt it? After the Force seemingly hit the skids a little late last week with the news that Disney has removed a Star Wars movie from its December 2026 slate, today our midichlorian count is right up again with the announcement that animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions is coming back for Volume 3. Per the official Star Wars website, Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2025, with a total of nine new and returning anime studios on board for the experimental show's third instalment. Check out the studio labels below;
As the animation Stans among you may notice, after the global affair that was Star Wars: Visions Volume 2, the anthology series is returning to its Japanese roots for its latest run of episodes. Among the studios returning to offer a second fresh spin on the Star Wars mythos are 'The Duel' creators Kamikaze Douga, 'The Twins' and 'The Elder''s Studio Trigger, 'The Village Bride''s Kinema Citrus, and 'The Ninth Jedi' outfit Production I.G. They'll be joined this time around by David Production (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), Anima (SAND LAND), Polygon Pictures (Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man; Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Project Studio Q (Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon A Time), and WIT Studio (Vinland Saga; Attack On Titan).
Breaking free from any notions of canon or tradition in the Star Wars universe, over the course of its first two volumes Visions has won a passionate following with its contributors' wildly varied, dynamic takes on that galaxy far, far away. We've had a ronin samurai mini-epic, a cockle warming Aardman animation, an Irish ghost story courtesy of Cartoon Saloon, and tales revolving around the Force itself, Kyber crystals, saber duels, feuding twins, and all sorts of other facets of the Star Wars universe. And with Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 assembling another powerhouse roster of animation outfits, we've got a good feeling about this.
