"Be warned of booby traps, pirates, and mountains where none dare to go!" So says a mysterious, piratical voice in the latest trailer for Jon Watts and Christopher Ford's upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. And if that proclamation sounds a little bit like a line that could've come straight from The Goonies, then that's no mere accident — with their New Republic era yarn spun around a group of lost space-kids who encounter ne'er-do-wells, tentacled creatures, and an enigmatic, Jude Law shaped Force-user whilst trying to find their way home, Watts and Ford are going all in on the Amblin vibes for their first foray into a galaxy far, far away. Cue the synths, and check out the boppy new trailer below:

Now this is where the fun begins! This new trailer sees Skeleton Crew's central band of mischief magnetised kids — Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and the distinctly Ortolan looking Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) — happen upon what looks like an Old Republic ship hidden away in a forest. And before group leader Wim can so much as say "Don't touch anything!", it looks like somebody does in fact touch something, sparking the vessel into life and setting the gang on a collision course with the aforementioned space pirates (several of 'em, in fact) — as well as Law's shifty seeming Jod Na Nawood, who offers to help them get home if they in turn "make a partnership" with him. What said partnership is we can't be fully sure, but we'll bet it has something to do with the lost treasure Nawood seems to be after.

We still have yet to get a detailed plot synopsis for Disney+'s latest Star Wars show, but the trailers released thus far have been filled with green flags, from the emphasis on practical effects, to the charisma and chemistry between our plucky young leads, to the familiar-yet-fresh vibe Watts and Ford are bringing to the series. And, being set in the same time period as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, you can bet that whilst the show looks to be accessible for all comers, there may well be some tantalising threads woven in here that could yet play into the upcoming Ahsoka Season 2 and The Mandalorian And Grogu movie (we already know Rebels alum Zeb — who cameo'd in Mando S3 — is set to make an appearance here!)

And as if all of that ain't enough to have us giddy with excitement already, check out the show's gorgeous, Drew Struzan inspired new poster too:

Among the frankly astonishing array of directors Watts and Ford have managed to bring aboard for this new Star Wars adventure are The Green Knight and Pete's Dragon filmmaker David Lowery, Oscar winners The Daniels, Mando alum Bryce Dallas Howard, Minari's Lee Isaac Chung, Thunderbolts* helmsman Jake Schreier, and Watts himself. With all that talent behind the camera, all that promise in front of it, and the prospect of a proper old-school Amblinesque adventure ahead, we could not be more ready for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew to start streaming on Disney+ on 3 December. Yippee!
