Launching last year, animated Star Wars series The Bad Batch – which follows the adventures of a squad of elite and experimental clone troopers who are certainly not your basic model – was a pleasant surprise and quickly won fans. As previewed at Star Wars Celebration, the show will be back for Season 2 and the first trailer is online.

Months have passed since the events on Kamino and the Bad Batch continue their journey navigating the Empire after the fall of the Republic. They will cross paths with friends and foes, both new and familiar, as they take on a variety of thrilling mercenary missions that will take them to unexpected and dangerous new places.

Which translates to a lot of action, the return of a certain saber-wielding young Wookiee and more trouble from Emperor Palpatine and Imperial forces.

With 16 episodes once again, Season 2 will land on Disney+ in the autumn.

In related Star Wars news, we also learned that animated anthology series Tales Of The Jedi, which will, among other stories, chronicle Ahsoka Tano's origins, plus younger Count Dooku and a Liam Neeson-voiced Qui-Gon Jinn (with his son Micheál Richardson playing the character in his apprentice days). Like The Bad Batch, Tales Of The Jedi should be with us in the autumn.

They'll be followed by the much-anticipated second season of Star Wars Visions, which told tales from across the galaxy and used a variety of animation styles. While Season 2 was confirmed at Celebration, no details were revealed beyond the fact that it'll premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2023.
