As the Star Wars: Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson dashes towards a potential March start-of-shooting date, Deadline is reporting that Natasha Liu Bordizzo of Netflix's The Society has been cast as Sabine Wren.
For the uninitiated, Wren is one of the main characters from animated series Star Wars Rebels, where she's voiced by Tiya Sircar. She's a young Mandalorian warrior and graffiti artist, Imperial Academy dropout and a former bounty hunter with expert knowledge of weapons and explosives.
Ahsoka, who has her own origin roots in the animated Wars work of Dave Filoni (one of the main creators of this Mandalorian spin-off) showed up n the series finale of Rebels, where she and Wren set out to find Ezra Bridger, who had allied with and left alongside the Purrgil, a race of giant, sentient, whale-like creatures.
There has been plenty of speculation that Wren and Bridger might show up on Ahsoka, so we may well see an announcement about the Bridger character soon.
As for Ahsoka, the Jedi warrior made her own live-action debut in The Mandalorian's second season episode. Disney+ has yet to announce when Ahsoka will debut, but you can read more about the expanding Star Wars TV universe in Empire's next issue, which boasts a feature on The Book Of Boba Fett.
