All these years on, and Star Trek is flourishing once again on the small screen. After the arrival of Star Trek: Discovery and the recent launch of Star Trek: Picard, CBS has confirmed another new Star Trek series coming to a streaming service near you – a Discovery spin-off titled Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The series will centre on Ethan Peck’s Spock, Anson Mount’s Captain Pike, and Rebecca Romijn’s Number One, each reprising their roles from Discovery’s second season.

The series was announced in a video on Star Trek’s social media accounts, with the trio of actors talking up the new project. “Speaking just for myself, I have never received more love from a fanbase than I have from the Star Trek family,” says Mount. “It means even more for us to be able to announce this right now at a time when so much of the planet is hurting. We’re going to get to work on a classic Star Trek show that deals with optimism and the future. I guess there’s only one more thing to say… hit it.”

While Strange New Worlds gears up a new arm of CBS ever-expanding Star Trek projects, Discovery is expected to return with Season 3 later this year, while Picard is in pre-production on Season 2.
