As America celebrates launching a new telescope beyond the grip of gravity, it seems fitting that Netflix is announcing when we'll see the second season of the Steve Carell-starring sitcom Space Force. We can expect the next run of episodes in February.
Space Force, co-created by Carell and The Office (US version) veteran Greg Daniels, debuted to little fanfare in 2020 and didn't really crack many critics Best Of lists. Still, the gang is back for a seven-episode second season.
The show sees Carell as Mark R. Naird, a decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force. He's thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.
Season 2 picks up with General Naird and his underdog team having to prove their worth to a new administration while dealing with interpersonal challenges. Will the group come together or fall apart under the pressure?
With John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, Diana Silvers, Jimmy O. Yang and Don Lake also in the cast, Netflix will release the new season on 18 February.
