It's a sizeable news day on the Marvel/Disney+ front, in more ways than one. With the first look atEchoout there already, and here comes the first full trailer for She-Hulk.
Or to give the show it's apparent full title, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. This new series follows Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), a single, 30-something lawyer who is trying to juggle her job and her personal life... And the fact that she's started turning into a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.
Though the trailer doesn't dig into why, the comic origins had her receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin, who happens to be Bruce Banner. And showing up here in full "Smart Hulk" mode is Mark Ruffalo, sharing a fun interplay with Walters (Orphan Black's Maslany, showing the chops and the charm to make this role work).
There's real sitcom energy here, offering yet another spin on the superhero story – and some great lines. Plus Tim Roth appearing as The Incredible Hulk's Emil Blonsky, AKA The Abomination. He was last seen scrapping for money with Benedict Wong's Wong in Shang-Chi, and Wong is also scheduled to show up here (though he's not in the trailer).
The cast also includes Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry, while behind the camera we have Jessica Gao as head writer and Kat Coiro and Anu Valia directing.
Issues? Some of the CG looks a tad cartoony at this stage, but there's time for that to be tweaked.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law will arrive on Disney+ on 17 August.
