Fantasy novel adaptation Shadow And Bone proved to be a solid success for Netflix last year, drawing plenty of viewers into the Grishaverse. As is revealed in a new twitter video from the cast, Season 2 has finally kicked off production and the show is adding four new cast members in Anna Leong Brophy, Patrick Gibson, Lewis Tan and Jack Wolfe.
Based on Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling Grishaverse novels, Shadow And Bone follows orphan Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), who possess a sought-after power, across a war-torn world as she flees from the powerful General Kirigan (Ben Barnes).
Brophy is playing Tamar Kir-Bataar, Gibson will be Nikolai Lantsov, Tan has the role of Tolya Yul-Bataar and Wolfe is on to be Wylan Hendriks. In addition to the new arrivals, Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik), Daisy Head (Genya Safin) and Calahan Skogman (Matthias Helvar) will all be series regulars in the new season.
With main showrunner Eric Heisserer still aboard, Season 1 writer Daegan Fryklind has been promoted to run the show alongside him. Depending on the schedule, the show should be back later this year with eight new episodes, but we wouldn't be shocked if it got pushed to early next.
