Good news, innies and outies: Severance will be back. Just after the Season 2 finale dropped (don’t worry, no spoilers here), Apple TV+ has confirmed that its hit sci-fi mystery series will be returning for a third season on the streaming service. In Kier’s light, we walk!
Across its two seasons so far, Severance has become Apple’s biggest hit series – officially overtaking Ted Lasso as its most-watched original. The show revolves around the shady Lumon company, which – among its many mysterious pursuits – has employees who work on a ‘Severed’ floor, their consciousnesses divided into their outside personas, and their ‘innie’ workers, who effectively only exist within the stark white bowels of the Lumon office. The purpose of their work is ‘mysterious and important’, with the show slowly delivering puzzle-pieces about the true nature of Lumon, the innies’ work, and what exactly is going on in the show’s bleak future world. Adam Scott leads as Mark Scout, joined by the likes of Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Jon Turturro, and Patricia Arquette. The show is created by Dan Erickson, with Ben Stiller as a lead director and producer.
Given the events of Season 2’s final episode, fans will be eagerly awaiting the next batch of episodes. Hopefully it won’t be as long as the gap between Seasons 1 and 2, a near three-year wait. Either way: there’s more story to come. And if that doesn’t call for a Music Dance Experience, we don’t know what does.
