Severance – Season 2

It’s the moment Severance fans have been waiting years for. And we mean years. The first season of Apple TV+’s brain-scratching sci-fi drama debuted in February 2022 – and after an extended interlude, Season 2 is finally arriving almost three years later in January 2025. Thankfully, it looks like it'll be worth the wait – the first run ended on an almighty, gasp-inducing, give-me-the-next-episode-now finale, and our first proper look at what comes next seems just as stylish, hooky, and propulsive as what came before. Give it a watch here, as Adam Scott’s Mark S. clocks back in for a Lumon shift – a job for which he agreed to ‘sever’ his mind into his outside life, and his work life – and discovers a whole new batch of employees.

Dun-dun-dun! Who are these new ‘innies’? What became of Mark’s old colleagues after – SEASON 1 SPOILER ALERT – their daring plot in the Season 1 finale to reconnect their innie and outie minds? How will the Lumon dynasty cope with Helena Eagen (aka Helly) whistleblowing on the dissent of those who’ve undergone severance? What will become of Mark’s discovery that his wife is still alive? And will we find out what their jobs actually mean in the grand scheme of things? There’s plenty to ponder going forward. Season 2 will feature five episodes directed by Ben Stiller, who’s an executive producer on the show – and there’s a simple synopsis which brings an ominous warning: “Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.” Woah.

Severance Season 2 begins on 17 January – just enough time, then, to rewatch Season 1. Or to get caught up, if you’re still an outie.
