It’s not long now until we head back to Hawkins for the fourth series of the Stranger Things saga, with the Duffer brothers’ Netflix hit returning in May – and now, we get our first proper look at the upcoming episodes with these newly released images of Eleven (Mille Bobby Brown), Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and the gang. Take a look:
As previously disclosed by the Duffers, Stranger Things Season 4 picks up six months after the Starcourt mall battle at the end of Season 3, and will find our fave D&D-playing Demogorgon-hunters scattered between four different locations across the globe, including wintery Russia, where we last left Hopper, and sun-soaked California, where Eleven moved with Joyce (Winona Ryder), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and Will (Noah Schnapp) after she lost her powers and believed Hopper was dead.
The new images show a longer-haired Eleven plus all the other returning faces you’d expect – Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Robin (Maya Hawke), Mike (Wolfhard) and his sister Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Max (Sadie Sink) and Steve (Joe Keery) – plus some new characters in the form of D&D Dungeon Master Eddie (Joseph Quinn) and Jonathan’s new friend Argyle (Booksmart’s Eduardo Franco). We also see a shaven-headed Hopper, alive and well. The shots don’t give us much indication of what kinds of supernatural-wrangling will go down this series, but the Duffers have promised, on a forthcoming episode of podcast Present Company With Krista Smith, that this run of episodes will have a much darker, “horror movie” vibe. Bring on the scares.
Volume 1 of Stranger Things Season 4 arrives on Netflix on 27 May, and Volume 2 will follow on 1 July. These come ahead of Season 5 of the show, which was confirmed recently will be the last.
