With Netflix ready to show off more of its wares in what it likes to call Geeked Week, we can naturally expect a slew of teasers, trailers and announcements. Here's one of the first, with the initial look at Scream's Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in, well, Wednesday.
In keeping with the recent likes of the teaser for The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes(which at least had the excuse of only just starting shooting), this teaser is nothing from the show itself, just Ortega's Wednesday and family stalwart disembodied hand Thing doing the iconic snap.
So, what can we expect from the show itself? It hails from Tim Burton (who directs and produces), while Alfred Gough and Miles Millar ran the show, having come up with the concept to power it. Wednesday is described a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.
Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore...
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Isaac Ordonez, George Burcea and Luis Guzmán are playing the rest of the Addams clan, while the focus of the series will be on Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Gwendoline Christie, Thora Birch, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Georgie Farmer, Naomi Ogawa and Moosa Mostafa. Oh, and in a nod to Barry Sonnenfeld's movies, Christina Ricci will also pop up in an unknown role. Want more? Netflix has yet to confirm a release date for the show, but surely around Halloween would seem to make sense?
