2016's Hell Or High Water was one of our favourite films of that year, with Chris Pine and Ben Foster as brothers who resort to robbery to save their family ranch in Texas and are doggedly pursued by a lawman played by Jeff Bridges. The movie will now become a TV series for US TV channel Fox.
Though the film was written by Taylor Sheridan (who has become a prolific TV producer in his own right) and directed by David Mackenzie, only the latter is involved in the series, and only as an executive producer. Instead, Dopesick and Stranger Things veteran Jessica Mecklenburg will run the show, which is now in the scripting stage.
The story will follow what happens when a ruthless oil tycoon attempts to plunder a West Texas ranching community and two local brothers dodge a zealous Texas Ranger and fight to keep what’s theirs, one bank robbery at a time. Which is essentially the same basic plot of the movie, with space to fill out more of the story. There's no word yet on when this might hit screens.
