Reacher

Good news for anyone who binged the entire first season of Reacher over the weekend: there’s more where that came from. Mere days ago, Amazon delivered the second screen adaptation of Lee Child’s action-packed novels about ex-military wandering do-gooder Jack Reacher (previously turned into films Jack Reacher and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) on its Prime Video service – this time a streaming series from writer Nick Santora, with the mountainous Alan Ritchson in the title role. And it’s proved so popular that a second series has been officially confirmed already. Turkey-sized high-fives all around.

“The entire Reacher team – cast, production, writers, etc. – is so happy with the wonderful reception the show has received,” says Santora. “Amazon, Skydance, and Paramount have been such fantastic partners and everyone is excited to roll up their sleeves and get to work on what will be a great Season 2.” Where the eight-episode Season 1 was based on Child’s first Reacher tale Killing Floor, it’s unclear whether Season 2 will tackle second book Die Trying, or pick another story to go off. Will we get to see Reacher’s famously dense pecs actually stop a bullet this time?

If there aren’t official viewing numbers yet, Reacher is currently the #1 series on Prime in the UK, with a current global user-review rating of 4.8 out of 5 – no wonder they’ve snapped up a second season. As for the titular character, we tried to contact him for comment but all we got was: “Reacher said nothing”. Ah well. Stay tuned for Season 2, most likely arriving in 2023.
