Amid a TV landscape where shows seem to be cancelled almost as soon as they've arrived on our streaming service of choice (more on that here), a season renewal feels like real cause for celebration. But after a particularly naff few weeks in which we've seen The Acolyte, KAOS, and — as of about an hour ago — Max's adult toon Velma series get the chop, it's with great pleasure that we can share the news Prime Video's hugely popular action thriller series Reacher has landed a Season 4 renewal before its third series has even landed.

Since Reacher's arrival on Prime Video back in 2022, fans have been enthralled by the brawn and brains (and even more brawn!) of Alan Ritchson's police investigator Jack Reacher as the ex-military man has tackled complex conspiracies, dangerous drug operations, and the challenge of fitting those rippling biceps into all manner of shirts, jackets, and other more mortal-suited attire. In the upcoming third season of the show, set to take its narrative cues from Child's seventh Reacher novel Persuader, it looks like we'll be digging deeper into our man Jack's past. The series' cryptic logline reads thus: “Reacher must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past.”

Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season,“ Amazon MGM Studios' head of television Vernon Sanders said in a statement accompanying today's announcement. “We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team behind the series including Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios.”

Reacher's renewal is the latest bit of exciting news for fans of Jack Reacher and Child's books, coming as it does hot on the heels of the recent announcement that Maria Sten's fan-favourite character Sgt. Frances Neagley is getting her own aptly titled spin-off show, Neagley. All of which is to say that it looks like we've got many more Reacher rounds to look forward to in the weeks, months, and years ahead.
