Last year, word arrived that Red Notice director (and confirmed fantasy gamer) Rawson Marshall Thurber was rolling the dice on a TV series set in the sprawling, magical world of Dungeons & Dragons. It was out to prospective TV homes then, but Paramount+ has now won the rights to make it.

The move feels like a sensible one for the streamer, since sibling studio Paramount has Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and more, in cinemas this year (the UK release date is now 31 March).

Quite what the focus of the show will be, narratively speaking, is a mystery for now. But Thurber wrote the pilot and is on board to direct the first episode, so expect more news in the not-too-distant future.
