Pilot TV Podcast #307: Disclaimer, Sweetpea, and La Máquina ft. Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal

We're stepping into the ring on the Pilot TV Podcast this week as we sent our very own journalistic heavyweight Boyd Hilton to chat to Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal about their Spanish-language boxing drama La Máquina on Disney+ [36:25 — 52:15 approx]. And that's not all in the fisticuff quarters, as we (non-literally) bash Kay for daring to take some time off work to go to a wellness retreat and give James an earful for his egregious (if entirely oblivious) queue-jumping.

Back on the actual TV talk front however, James, Kay, and Boyd embrace the spooky season's commencement with a listener question that's all about the best TV-based horrors. (No prizes for guessing how far we get without a shoutout for The Last Of Us!) There's also some chat about what the team have all been watching this week — including Apples Never Fall, Heartstopper Season 3, and, er, that Philip Schofield island thing on Channel 5. Then, over in the news section, the gang discuss the sad passing of Dame Maggie Smith and John Amos, the Season 2 renewal of Apple TV's Colin Farrell led neo-noir series Sugar, and Hilary Swank joining the third season of Yellowjackets amongst other things. As well as reviewing La Máquina, though, we also take a look at starry Apple TV+ drama Disclaimer* with Cate Blanchett, and coming-of-rage offering Sweetpea on Sky Atlantic, which sees Ella Purnell getting in touch with her inner sociopath.
