Finally. Ever since rave reviews started emerging from HBO Max viewers in the US, we’ve been itching to get a glimpse of James Gunn’s Peacemaker series – the small-screen spin-off of The Suicide Squad, exploring the ongoing adventures of John Cena’s douchebag mercenary. And now, we know exactly when we’ll be able to watch it. Throughout its entire run in the States, Peacemaker hasn’t had a home on these shores – but now that the full show has aired, it’s been confirmed to arrive on Sky and NOW later this month. As revealed by Gunn himself, the show will drop in full on 22 March.
Set after the events of The Suicide Squad, the series is written in full by Gunn himself, who also directed five of its eight episodes. The series also stars Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, and Robert Patrick – as well as Steve Agee, who returns from the film. Most importantly, it also stars Eagly, Peacemaker's loving pet eagle. And as well as its enthusiastic reception from fans, the show has also received an official Season 2 order, so there’ll be plenty more to come from the gun-toting antihero.
At least UK viewers have one advantage over American viewers – since we haven’t been able to watch the series yet, we’ve had much more time to learn every move from that incredible opening title dance sequence. Get ready to bust those moves on 22 March.
Oh, and be sure to pick up Empire's Moon Knight issue for a deep-dive exploration of Peacemaker himself with Gunn and Cena, on shelves right now and available to order online here.
