How about some meaty casting news for your Thursday morning? Or, more specifically, make that some _Beef_y casting news. Last night, Netflix announced that they're cooking up a second helping of their feuding anthology series Beef — and they've assembled quite the leading quartet to bring Season 2 to life. Per the streamer's own website, Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny are set to star in the sophomore instalment of creator-showrunner Lee Sung Jin's A24 produced show.
Whilst the Emmy award-winning first season of Beef saw Ali Wong and Steven Yeun locked in a battle of wits after a road rage incident, the inciting incident for this second run of episodes will be a young couple witnessing a big ol' barney between their boss and his wife — a ruckus that sets in motion mind games involving a country club and its billionaire Korean owner. We don't have official confirmation as of yet regarding who's playing who in Season 2, but it would seem logical to suggest Isaac and Mulligan will take on the boss and wife roles, whilst May December breakout Melton and Alien: Romulus star Spaeny could be in the frame as the young couple caught up in the drama.
Now, somewhat disappointingly, Beef's second season is set to run a little shorter than the first, with eight as opposed to 10 30-minute episodes this time out. But given the quality of Season 1, and the calibre of talent attached here for Season 2, we will not be looking to start any beef over Beef with Netflix at this time. Instead, we're going to do what any reasonable, well-adjusted folk would and spend the wait between now and the second series dropping looking to start petty feuds with bona fide A-Listers. Hugh Jackman in our parking space you say? Dame Judi Dench queue jumping? Incorrect use of their and they're Glen Powell? Grrr...
