Giddy up, space cowboys – the first images from Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop series has dropped, giving us an initial look at the much-anticipated anime adaptation. The original ‘90s animated show, created by Hajime Yatate, is a cultural landmark, and now it’s being turned into a big-budget streaming series from Sunrise Inc (the producers of the anime) bringing the wild adventures of galactic bounty hunter Spike Siegel to a whole new medium. As well as confirming a November launch date for the show, Netflix has shared a selection of pictures showing the core cast in action – including John Cho as Spike.

The show follows a group of bounty hunters who chase after criminals in the cosmos, travelling between the stars in a ship named Bebop – and in this first glut of pics, you’ll see Cho’s Spike Siegel with his trademark headphones on, bloodied in action, and sitting in the Bebop.

And that’s not all – there are more pics, also showing Mustafa Shakir and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Daniella Pineda as fellow Bebop crew members Jet Black and Faye Valentine.

The first season consists of 10 episodes, which will all drop on 19 November. Can it keep the unique, idiosyncratic tone of the anime? Will it prove more successful than Netflix’s live-action Death Note movie? And will it keep the famous jazzy music? All these answers and more in three months time.
