After giving us one of the most unforgettable TV moments of 2021 (yes, we’re talking about that suitcase scene in The White Lotus), the brilliant Murray Bartlett is one of eight newly confirmed cast members in a series with an altogether more serious subject matter – climate change.
It’s an Apple TV+ show called Extrapolations, and is set to be an eight episode anthology series telling interconnected stories about the worldwide battle for survival through the changes to our planet. Bartlett’s casting was reported this week by Variety, as was that of black-ish’s Yara Shahidi, Diane Lane, Heather Graham, Grammy-winner Ben Harper, Judd Hirsch, Hari Nef and Neska Rose.
They join a plethora of previously announced cast members including Meryl Streep (who recently explored a world-ending event in Don’t Look Up), OG Spidey Tobey Maguire, Edward Norton, Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington, Marion Cotillard, Gemma Chan and many, many more. With a credit roll that starry, Extrapolations is sure to be epic.
Production is currently underway, and Contagion writer Scott Z Burns is penning, directing and executive producing. Given how accurate that film turned out to be, we can only hope Extrapolations has a happier ending. That’s normally how climate change stories go, right?
