It's always good to see the Muppet gang back on our screens, even if some of their recent projects haven't really lived up to their glory days. Yet the idea of combining the fuzzy friends with some frightening fiends is a compelling one, so we're more than ready to give Muppets Haunted Mansion a spin when it drops on Disney+. Find the trailer below.

Here's the basic synopsis, which is just the jumping off-point for a whole mansion full of Muppety madness around a version of the famed Disney attraction.. "The Great Gonzo – world famous daredevil artiste, has done it all, seen it all, and survived it all. But on Halloween night, the fearless Gonzo takes on the greatest challenge of his life by spending one very daring night in the most grim grinning place on Earth... The Haunted Mansion."

Kirk R. Thatcher (whose Muppet credentials stretch as far back as 1996's Muppet Treasure Island and as recently as the well-received Muppets Now) directs from a script he wrote with Pixar veteran Kelly Younger. The TV movie features plenty of felt favourites, even some who haven't had enough of a showcase of late (take a bow, Johnny Fiama and Sal!) Plus there are human guest stars including Will Arnett, Taraji P. Henson, Danny Trejo, Yvette Nicole Brown and Ed Asner in one of his final roles.

Muppets Haunted Mansion debuts on Disney+ on 8 October.
