Marvel certainly seems to be plucking writers from different fields for its Disney+ series. The latest hire has plenty of TV experience (both behind and front of the camera), as Yassir Lester will serve as head writer for the Don Cheadle-starring Armor Wars.
Lester and Cheadle most recently worked together on cable series Black Monday, with Lester serving as writer and executive producer, as well as appearing on the show.
Armor Wars will find Cheadle's James "Rhodey" Rhodes – AKA War Machine – who will be tasked with a new mission when Tony Stark's worst fear comes true and his advanced technology falls into the wrong hands. It doesn't sound like the setup for a chuckle-fest, but Lester has shown he knows how to blend drama with comedy.
There's no date for the show to arrive – not shocking, since the scripts will need to be written and a director plus other cast hired – but it may be on our screens by late 2022 or at some point in 2023.
